Under the   direction of and reporting to the Manager of Continuous Improvement and   Manufacturing Engineering, the Assembly/CI Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the application of   Lean Manufacturing principles across assembly operations. This position will effectively utilize demonstrated working knowledge of both Industrial Engineering and Lean tool sets. Directly supporting production assembly departments, continuous improvement execution must demonstrate business value and focus on production metric improvement and sustainment.


  1. Set routing for all Assembly work centers for production released BOM, including managing and updating work center changes.
  2. Set up assembly pods/stations with data on cycle-time/takt time, including assembly/sub assembly labor standards.
  3. Create and manage work instructions for all Assembly work centers.
  4. Lead and participate in Kaizen Events; understand and use Lean concepts and tools.
  5. Support Assembly areas in identifying process inefficiencies and provide solutions to improve.
  6. First line of contact for Assembly technical support; participate in pilot production and provide relevant feedback to the Design team with a continuous improvement focus
  7. Root cause and corrective actions – understanding and execution of managing process defects /scrap.
  8. Design and maintenance of process tools and fixtures.


¨            Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering related discipline required

¨        Minimum of 3 years experience, preferably in the sheet metal fabrication industry with a demonstrated ability to reduce costs without compromising quality

¨        Demonstrated experience (3 years minimum) in a continuous improvement environment (Understanding of Lean concepts and use of Lean tools)

¨        Demonstrated mechanical skills and working knowledge of industrial engineering tools

¨        Experience in a low volume / high mix manufacturing environment and/or appliance industry is desirable

¨        Must understand Lean manufacturing concepts and be able to implement changes

¨        Proficiency in BOMs, routings, and engineering change processes

¨        Proficiency in SolidWorks or AutoCad desired.

¨        MS-Office skills (MS-Word, Excel Spreadsheets)

¨        Strong analytical, problem solving and team skills. 

¨        Excellent communication and time management skills.

¨        Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos. 

¨        Attention to detail required.
